BIOGRAPHY

Margaret Berger has become an icon within electropop, a genre that has shaped much of today's mainstream pop music. With a voice and personality that are warm, against a backdrop of hard and cool beats, she has found a special place in the hearts of the LGBTQ+ community, and she is a frequent and celebrated guest at Pride events throughout the Nordic countries and the UK.

From the moment Margaret Berger stepped onto the "Idol" stage in 2004, her musical journey has been a captivating tale of transformation and renewal. With her debut album "Chameleon," which was not only nominated for a Spellemann Award but also lauded by critics, she quickly established herself as an artist to watch. "Life Time Guarantee," a single from this album, captured the hearts of the audience and its music video won a Spellemann Award and was in heavy rotation on MTV Fresh, testifying to her early impact.

In 2006, Berger boldly shifted her musical style to a cooler electropop soundscape with the album "Pretty Scary Silver Fairy." This work was met with critical acclaim beyond the borders of Norway, marking her as a pioneer within the genre. After a bustling start to her career, Berger took a break from the limelight to explore new horizons as a DJ and as part of the NRK P3 team, showcasing her versatility and ability to reinvent herself.

In 2013 Berger made a resounding comeback as she won the Norwegian Melodi Grand Prix final with "I Feed You My Love." This track, known as one of the best entries Norway has sent to Eurovision, earned her an impressive fourth place in the competition in Malmö. Since then, she has maintained an active presence in the music world, including appearances on "Hver gang vi møtes" in 2016 and "Maskorama" in 2021.

In 2024, eleven years after her Eurovision adventure, she returned to MGP with the song "Oblivion" which finished in 7th place in the Norwegian final. She has a high profile in Eurovision circles internationally, recently perfoming at the Eurovision pre-party in Madrid.

Margarets newest project is set to release spring of 2024. “Songs my friends might wanna dance to” consists of three danceable, emotive songs that will make more than just her friends run to the club and get their feet dancing. The first song, "Karma is a...", was released April 12th.

Margaret Berger is not just an artist; she is a musical chameleon who constantly challenges the boundaries of her own creativity and the conventions of the genre. With a career that continues to flourish, she is a shining example of perpetual renewal and undeniable talent.
